EVERYbody Writes

***EVERYbody Writes is currently on hold until we can find a better place to meet - stay tuned!***

EVERYbody Writes is a sister-group to Writing at the Ledges.

Since WatL is getting so big (more than 20 people showing up to a meeting is just too much for a 2-hour meeting), Randy Pearson and Colleen Nye started their own writing group.

What is similar to WatL?

Each month we offer a prompt (which we reveal at the end of the last meeting, to give you plenty of time to write) and we ask you to write a short story of 1111 words or less (or more if the muse won’t stop whispering in your ears - don’t worry, we’re not militant over the word count).

We read our piece to the group. If you would like some light critique, bring copies. If not, don’t. So far, this has been more of a “read and enjoy” crowd, but my hope is that we will slowly persuade our members to offer some critique.

What is different from WatL?

We are a short story writing group, so no poetry please. Non-fiction/memoirs are fine, but it has to have a story to it. It needs to entertain!

Since we are later in the evening and we meet in a place where alcohol is served, we are looking for a younger, edgier crowd. Swear words are fine! Adult subject matter is fine! And drinking is more than fine. :^)

So far, we have averaged around 8-10 people per meeting. This means you will have lots of time read your piece, and we will probably get done early.

If you are looking for a fresh, young, and exciting new writing group, check out EVERYbody Writes!
