Alta C. Reed is 86 years young. She was the
valedictorian of Custer High School’s 1939 graduating
class. Married 63 wonderful years to Ivan Reed, they
have six children, Donald, William, Linda, Patrick and
Michael, 22 grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren.
A member of Gunnisonville United Methodist Church,
D.A.R., and Writing at the Ledges, she enjoys politics,
family genealogy and antiques. She recently developed
Ivan Reed’s Mini Museum at the family farm in Carr
Settlement. She also recently published a memoir titled
Carr Settlement: Then and Now.
